Goodbye Berlin! + London stopover.

Upon returning from Paris we had only a few days to pack up the Lofthaus and move on.  The nice lady subletting her place to us was returning from London and wanted her apartment back.  So we took the opportunity to combine a little sight seeing with our move to the next settling place.  Denise had London on her list of places to see while in Europe and, after checking out air fares for two people plus possessions, it turned out to be a reasonably economical waypoint.  So off we went!

Finally made it to the Mago!  Maybe we mentioned it before..it's a stand-and-eat wiener stand just outside the Edeka (favorite grocery).  Very delicious.

Final Kebab!
Here begins our next string of adventures! Berlin didn’t make it so hard to leave with freezing temperatures and snow to drag our suitcases over…
Plane snack!  One of the advantages of flying with a real carrier (vs. cheap-o, fee-for-everything budget carriers).
London greeted us with some rain, but at least it was much warmer
Nothing some “chips” and free wifi can’t cure
Our Hotel!  The people who owned the hotel we stayed in started out with a motel style property and had expanded into the neighborhood, converting nearby houses to additional rooms.
No.
Thatched roof!  Just down the street from the hotel.
A good illustration of how close we were to the airport.  Convenient.
The closest supermarket was actually at Heathrow. We saw chicken wings and couldn’t leave them behind
Opera!
Live music at a shopping center in London.
Hark! Sneaky blue rooster in Trafalgar Square
Is that clock famous from somewhere?
Perfectly nestled horse and guard
Obligatory: get by the clock for a picture.
Westminster Abby: 18 pounds just to be let into church! The façade will have to do…
Right next door, just as old and free! We marched right in for our fill of holy.
I made a sandwich for myself, preserved using available supplies.
We decided to splurge a little bit on a treat at one of Jamie Oliver’s restaurants. No regrets here.
Fridge bag!  Return of the Magnificent.
A very British way to get rid of our last few pence.
One for the road.
